Nowocoat Industrial A/S has with COOLINGPAINT® developed the technology of the future for wood protection (patent pending). The purpose of infrared (IR) heat-reflective wood protection is to avoid the sun’s damaging heating up of the wood. This attribute forms the basis for COOLINGPAINT®.

HEALTHY WOOD FOR THE LONGEST AMOUNT OF TIME

It is not the cold, but rather the warm time of year that causes the most wear and tear of the wood.  Everyone knows that black and other dark wood is burning hot when the sun shines, and white and light wood is relatively cool. What everyone does not know is that this heating up is very harmful to the wood. With COOLINGPAINT® the wood is prevented from being heated up by the sun, and this reduces the damages that the sun’s strong light and heat cause, such as sun fading or bleaching, cracks, extraction of resin, etc. The benefit is that the wood maintains its natural temperature and keeps healthy, secure, and flexible for many years, and wooden houses are not heated up.

INFRARED (IR) RAYS CAUSE MORE DAMAGE THAN ULTRAVIOLET RAYS ON WOOD

It is a well known fact that UV rays fade or bleach the colours of the wood, but these make up only a very small part of the rays of sunshine which hit the earth. The largest part is the infrared rays (IR), which cause deterioration of the wood to a much higher degree.
COOLINGPAINT® has a heat-reflective coating technology with special pigments added, which are bound in a matrix of heat-reflective additives that reflect the sun’s ultraviolet rays, leading to the amount of the absorbed heat being drastically reduced and the wood not heating up. The greatest effect is seen with dark colours, where for example the surface temperature with COOLINGPAINT® in a black colour reduces by up to 20˚C / 40% as compared to traditional wood protection products.

APPLICATION

COOLINGPAINT® can be used for external treatment of facades, eaves, gables, garages, planks, external windows and outer doors (both on the inside and outside), and more. It works on both previously treated and new wood.

BASED ON THE BEST TECHNIQUES AVAILABLE

COOLINGPAINT® is based on the HybridTechnology-System™ and also contains anti-fungal and anti-algae additives with SlowRelease-Protection™, so that these additives are only activated in moist weather conditions. A long-lasting UV-blocker is also added.

TEST AND DOKUMENTATION:

COOLINGPAINT® is in accordance with international standards quality tested for coverage, UV-stability, attachment, flaking, blistering, cracking, high weather-resistance, fungal and algal growth, changes to shine and colour, etc. It is also tested for Total Solar Reflectance which measures the ability to reflect the sun’s harmful infrared (IR) rays.
